Concept
"Time" is a project about the non-coincidence of temporal
systems, each developing by its own laws and refusing
to synchronize with the others.
We live inside several temporal systems at once. The cube becomes both structure and filter, turning continuous processes into measurable ones. Any flow, passing through structure, changes its state of existence.

Cycles that
rewrite themselves
The cube receives natural dynamics drawn from satellite data
of the Larnaca Salt Lake. Natural time moves in cycles:
phases recur, but each new one fully overwrites the previous.
This is the logic of replacement, not accumulation.
The site itself is a complex of four connected salt lakes
west of Larnaca, totaling 2.2 km². It fills with rainwater in winter
and evaporates to a salt crust by late summer. Water colour
is set by halophilic algae (Dunaliella salina and related species)
— the same organisms anchor a food chain that supports
2,000–12,000 wintering flamingos.

A pattern that
does not return
I pass the family lace to a generative system.
A pattern that holds the time of several generations
is continuously rebuilt by the algorithm. Each moment
produces a new version, without return to the previous.

About the artist
Svetlana Fenster
is a Cyprus-based multidisciplinary artist. She works with memory
as an active system rather than a static archive, exploring
what allows forms to persist over time.
